Help Me Find a LYS
HELP!!!!!

I need help finding a local yarn shop. I've moved to Vancouver, WA and I all I can seem to find is one in Vancouver itself. I went to a Portland shop today and it just wasn't my style. It seems like a great shop if you are in the "target" group. I thought it would be great because it was a cafe and knittery. But I was unaware of the fact that they served beer and wine and that I was in a part of town that is a little more alternative. I can handle alternative to a point but I usually don't fit in that well. :) I also don't want to take my son to somewhere that serves beer and wine, nor do I really want to go there.

So because I am discouraged and don't want to drive a half hour one way again just to walk into and then out of a store, I am asking for your help. The person who finds the yarn shop that I want to hang out in the most will recieve a very beautiful gift of YARN!!! My stash hasn't gotten here yet so I can't look at it and just let you know what the prize will be but let's just say I have great yarn and I am usually not stingy on gifts. :) For those of you who don't know me very well I am a single mom and a college student. I am attending the college for global deployment and getting my degree in missions. (That's why beer and wine don't apeal to me) I am a girly girl and love pretty nice things. I sell Mary Kay. Hopefully that gives you a thought of who I am. So I need somewhere nice, pretty, but also comfy and casual so that I can take my son there. It would be great if I could find somewhere that has a toy room or something like that. I went to a yarn store in NC that had a toy room with a rocking chair, TV, ect in it. I so wish I lived there because it would allow me to hang out and knit all the time. :) So there you have it. Are you up to the challenge? :) I hope so.

Long Overdue
I have a long overdue thank you to post. That is to my one skien secret pal! I totally forgot to post about the beautiful skien of handspun yarn she got for me in June. I was so busy getting ready to go to China and Thailand that I actually forgot I had it. :) I have no idea what I am going to make with it...but do we ever know what we are going to do with all our yarn. :) Here it is...try not to drool on your computer.

I also have been spoiled by my secret pal. She says she is getting my reveal package ready and I can't wait. God paired me up with the perfect person this round. :) She sent me a wonderful package of hand made goodies. :)

And finally thanks to myself. :) I spoiled myself with three hanks of Cherry Tree Hill superwash sock yarn. :) I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!

Support the Troops and FO's
I meant to post about this last Friday but life got away from me. :) I finally got a new camera (Ben broke my last one) so now I can post with some pictures. Last Friday we went and stood in the support the troops rally for my cousin who is in Afghanastan. His mom (my aunt), his wife (my cousin by marriage), and his daughter (my second cousin) all came down to stand. My aunt made us all shirts that had his picture on them and said or relationship to him. It was such a great time. The people were so excited to have us there, espcially my cousin's wife and daughter. Some of the veterans are going to send packages to my cousin and email him with some encouraging words since they know what it is like. I could hardly keep from crying.
They played some patriotic music and some about solidiers being away from loved ones and everytime I would look at my cousin's wife or daughter I'd lose it. I'm not very political but I do pray and support my cousin and will be very ready for him to return.

My cousin's wife and daughter.

All of us.

The rally on the street.

She's such a cutie. She turns 1 this month and loves her daddy so much even though she has mainly seen pictures. She kept blowing kisses at him. It's too cute.

Okay now on to knitting content. I have two finished objects to report. :) YIPPPEEEE. The first is the knitted tanktop dress for my niece. Here is the pic of it.

It is from the yarn girl's guide to kid's knits. I'm not too found of the yarn I used. It was cascade sierra. It split like awful and the combo of needles and yarn made me have a hard time keeping my stiches even. It looks like I've never knit before. :( But it's done and I'm sure it will look cute on her.

The second fo is the garterlac dishcloth. I just love this pattern and it was loads of fun. I'm working on one for my ex mil now.

Well, I'm supposed to be all ready to go to the Douglas County Fair when my mom gets here and I'm nowhere close. We were going to take Ben to the local fair but we missed it so now we have to drive an hour and a half to take him. :) I'm sure I'll have some pictures of it to post when we get back.
